Hi Louis. That's an interesting take. I hadn't thought of that one -- was really tuning in more to the nature of the company's business rather than the visualization itself!

I thought this cartoon appears to be saying, don't let visualization and aids cheapen the data and information you are trying to convey - something I agree with completely.

 Maybe the hat is the new PowerPoint alternative, he may have a wardrobe of hats; pie chart, bar graph etc. :)

The sad thing is that these boring suits do not even find humor in their own products. Look at their grumpy, sad faces. They need to invent some new hilarious props, or that manager will be wearing @Ariella's hat pretty soon.

What I thought was that the hat could just as easily be worn the other way, and that would show the profits headed down.
