@tinym: Ha! "Other" might have been good enough; it just wasn't very descriptive or satisfying to cast my vote for vagueness, especiailly since A2 editors went to such lengths to provide us so many voting options.

Voted the same. I know a company who just kind of bought in to the idea. They hired one person to take care of it and then expected everything from her despite the lack of funds. Poor lady, good thing she moved to a better company now.

Terry I agree if there isn't buy in at the c -level little will get accomplished--it feeds the other answers.

For the analytics team to have more success than happened last year requires a change in the culture. This is more difficult than one would think due to the power of inertia.

So, in this poll, I first looked for answers that included "culture" or "inertia".

Not finding these, I settled for "Lack of C-level management support".  The culture change can come from the top down, or from the bottom up. Better yet, a little of both. But at the end of the day, C-level owns the culture and must support the change.

i wish there'd been a repsonse of "Some of the above," since it's usually some combination of these pitfalls that doom an analytics project or initiative.

That being said, I picked lack of "C" level support. No buy in there, no buy in period.

I chose lack of direction/purpose.

Lack of management support and lack of direction seem to go hand in hand. If there is overall focus at senior levels on the analytics then the direction will follow.
