There is that...

Gym owners do something similar. The members who never show up to the gym fund it so the diehards can use the equipment regularly.

Haha! Santa's Instagram account would be very busy, me thinks.

@Lyndon_Henry well, why not? Think of all the marketing opportunities that opens up when you show before and after pics of Santa for a gym, a diet drink, or eating spinach.

So true and when the cool factor is surpassed they end up in the technology graveyard.

Ariella envisions ...

... a rebranding of Santa as a fit, trim, celery-munching guy. You know that some icons of brands have undergone a makeover, like Aunt Jemima, Betty Crocker, and the Quaker, so why not Santa?

Maybe sorta like this?

You guys forget that the reasons these entrepreneurs launch tech gadgets isn't to make humanity better. It may be to be cool. But that's secondary. It's to make lots of money.

<Just another example how technology places more importance upon itself than the actual task that both the individual and technology are trying to accomplish.>

@Louis I've had the same feeling about a lot of tech that seems to be more about just tech coolness than about accomplishing anything. It's important to remember when designing things that the tech should not be an end in itself but do something to improve the human experience.

This cracks me up !    I recently saw a commercial that made owning one of these wrist bans essential to a worthy work out.  While I appreciate it's usefulness, the real work is in the doing.

Just another example how technology places more importance upon itself than the actual task that both the individual and technology are trying to accomplish.

 Happy Holidays Everyone !

@kq4ym Actually, that's a great hoax idea: a rebranding of Santa as a fit, trim, celery-munching guy. You know that some icons of brands have undergone a makeover, like Aunt Jemima, Betty Crocker, and the Quaker, so why not Santa?
