@ cyril

I agree with this problem but this isn't how it works in a corporation. You have to explain things to executives as they will never understand it themselves and what better way to do that except by using data visualization techniques to depict the true performance picture.

Having separate staff to create analytics and create output in the form of data visualization for end-users will be a problem esp. if that analyst is unaware of the business that organization does. Training of these techniques to financial analysts who understand business as well will bridge this gap. I am sure there are many platforms where such training is imparted.

That's more or less what I was trying to get at.  Useless data is still useless no matter how pretty the pictures are.  There have been many times that I've been sitting at a table looking at a set of graphs and charts and heard the dreaded "what's the point of this one?"

I see your point, Cyril

I don't like the concept of having to explain the data to someone else-I'd rather have some sort of intuitive way to visualize it myself, so it is accurate.

Hi Cyril. Is that from a "I don't want to have to hire another person since I just bought this software" perspective?

Looks like an eyeball to me!

Absolutely. Just because it's visual doesn't guarantee it's success at delivering usable or even intelligible insight to the business.

Well said SaneIT. Just because information has been presented visually doesn't mean it's been presented effectively!
