Data quality has always been the subject that everyone tended to avoid since it was rarely emphasized and clear policy or effective processes rarely existed. With no clear policy in place friction ensues.

Solvency II is something that we could have used here in the U.S. for AIG. Though, I'm wary of having private audit companies monitor it.
What is key to data quality is transparency, to ensure that no one is fudging with the numbers.
