I suspect the visual cards might just put us on the spot. Not only are we voluntarily giving up information about us to another company to sell and massage, but what goes on the site isn't going to necessarily promote us in the best light anyway, let alone lead to any sort of new employment.

Given modern culture and expectations, I tend to think private people like me are toast.

exactly-- that's why I keep personal stuff to a minimum. I personally find it somewhat disconcerting to have allot of my personal life on the web.

I tried Vizify in beta several months ago. I asked if they planned to incorporate  analytics in the platform since it seemd like a natural fit. It looks like they added basic visitor stats since then. It's a cute service but I'm not sold on it's value just yet.

@Noreen I went to Vizify to try it out. Interesting that it assumes that people have Instagram and 4Square but not that they have Google+ or Pinterest profiles.  According to my results, most of my posts are about big data. Actually, that is likely accurate for LI, but not really for FB. Also it rather skews the picture results. It just seemed to pull out two at random. Perhaps they were featured in more than one of my social media streams, but they are not necessarily representational.

@Noreen the inventor part reminds me of the results I got when taking some of these tests of what to pursue. I believe the results were astronomer and mechanic. Now, I do visit planetariums, but I really wish I knew how to fix cars myself -- that could have saved me a lot of money!

Right. But there is always the risk that an employer could see one of these personal profiles.

I am not sure I would want an employer viewing these types of personal sites in a visual format; it may leave too much room for interpretation. However, I would think certain industries could benefit from these like dating websites. It could be an added capability for their profiles.

Yes, they tend to come off as sort of snarky

When an employer says "Tell me about yourself" it's not that they are necessarily interested in what you say, but how you say it.

I suspect the visual cards might just put us on the spot. Not only are we voluntarily giving up information about us to another company to sell and massage, but what goes on the site isn't going to necessarily promote us in the best light anyway, let alone lead to any sort of new employment.
