Thanks, @Pierre! Admittedly, details about Hadoop are a stretch for me, so I find great value in papers like this that help translate why it matters into contexts that I can relate to. We're working at an interesting time when it's important for "business" people (like marketers) need to get more comfortable with technology, and our techie counterparts (particularly IT) need to familiarize themselves with the business drivers that depend on technology.  The resulting dialogue will make us all more productive!

The nice aspect of papers such as this is that they are usually well-timed to what is happening in the corporate world.  Noting Hadoop for non-technical marketers is essential as more solutions which fit between tech-savvy and nontech are arriving to market.  Gaining a sensibility with Hadoop, even if one does not use it, gives a marketer an appreciation for what has to be associated with database language and the associated application.
