Anne-Lindsay Beall quotes Las Vegas Sands CAO Rom Hendler:
"CMO is not the same job it was even just a few years ago," says Hendler. "It used to be about brand and communication skills. Now CMOs need to have analytical talent."
Kind of hard to tell whether Hendler is saying that the CMOs need that "analytical talent" in the form of personnel in their departments, or whether they THEMSELVES must have these skills.
Whatever he meant, I strongly suspect that we're moving into a business world where the top CMOs and other marketing management people THEMSELVES will need to be wizards of analytics. In other words, a background in math and analytics is probably becoming (or will become) virtually mandatory for top manrketing management.
