I agree that there will always be a need for someone there to compile the data into meaningful chunks and explain them in human terms.  The automation will only deliver what the humans tell it to.  The titles won't become C level positions but I can see them leading to a position that does a good deal of steering a company's direction and growth, if not from the top then in and advisory role.

I can easily see a time when data crunching and some analysis becomes more automated, but no matter what you need someone who knows what they are looking at and is able to ask the right questions.   The job title might differ, but that matters not.

I compare to navigation systems. If Tom-Tom tells you to turn left into on-coming traffic you gotta have the brains not to do it.
