I am surprised and yet not so surprised Google bought Kaggle. It will be interesting to see how Google leverages this purchase and I hope Kaggle does not lose it's charm and effectiveness as a result.

@tomsg Glad to hear it ! I am going through the process now myself, the direction that is now available is something I had no idea I would be pursuing once I left college. It is exciting and a little bit scary, but that just comes with the territory.

I wouldn't mind adding Analytics to my Consulting services. Something I am considering but I am adding new skills sets as fast as possible now, so I need to figure out where I will find this additional time. But the forecasts clearly show that Analytics is something most need to seriously consider.

I love it when people see their careers as evolutionary. We should not expect to have the same career we had when we graduated college the world changes and so should our skills and our careers. We should be empowered by this not disappointed or frustrated. I only wish there was some sort of financial support for those making the transition because I think it prevents many from making a critical career change.

Yes, that is an indication of the fast pace going on. With 36,000 jobs posted on just one website it looks like this may be a great time for entering the field for even changing careers for some.

That's an interesting aquisition for Google to make. I have to say that Google is one of the more interesting companies to watch for trends.
I'm not surprised to hear that there is a lot of growth with consultant firms as many analytical endevours are project based and consultant firms provide flexibility.
